Proudlock bd48814021 Reorganize repository structure and clean up documentation
Clean up and organize the flask-shopdb repository for better
maintainability and discoverability:

## Changes

- Update .gitignore for build artifacts (publish/, data/, 122M total)
- Reorganize .claude/ into 6 subdirectories with README navigation
- Consolidate overlapping MCP setup guides into MCP-QUICK-START.md
- Move deployment docs from root to docs/deployment/
- Archive dated status reports to .claude/archived/
- Delete temporary files (logs, backups, empty reports, ~50K)

## New Structure

.claude/ organized into:
- setup/ - MCP, VM, Hyper-V, GitHub setup guides + scripts (17 files)
- plans/ - Feature plans and protocols (5 files)
- maintenance/ - Deployment checklists and reports (4 files)
- archived/ - Historical documentation (9 files)
- skills/ - Claude Code automation (5 files)
- workflows/ - Security audit workflow (1 file)

docs/deployment/ created with 6 deployment guides:
- LOCAL-DEV-SETUP.md, DOCKER-SETUP.md, DOCKER-PREBUILT-APPROACH.md
- PRODUCTION-READINESS.md, DEPLOY-TO-VM.md, README.md

Root directory cleaned to essential docs only:
- CLAUDE.md, README.md, CONTRIBUTING.md, CHANGELOG.md

Benefits:
- Clear navigation via README.md in each subdirectory
- No duplicate/overlapping documentation
- Large artifacts properly gitignored (won't bloat repository)
- Historical context preserved in archived/

See .claude/CLEANUP-SUMMARY.md for complete details.

Memory Updated

Memory file updated at:

~/.claude/projects/C--Users-270015376-Documents-github/memory/infrastructure_mcp_servers.md

Added section: "Documentation and Testing" with links to all new files.

First time setup:

  1. Read INDEX-MCP-DOCS.md (this is the master index)
  2. Read README-MCP-SETUP.md (quick reference)
  3. Run quick-start-mcp.ps1 (automated setup)
  4. Run test-mcp-servers.ps1 (verify setup)
  5. Read VM-SNAPSHOT-GUIDE.md (if using VM)
  6. Read MCP-INTEGRATION-GUIDE.md (learn workflows)

Daily usage:

  1. Run test-mcp-servers.ps1 (verify everything ready)
  2. Start Claude Code from flask-shopdb directory
  3. Reference README-MCP-SETUP.md for troubleshooting

Example Workflows Documented

See MCP-INTEGRATION-GUIDE.md for detailed workflow examples.

Baseline snapshots to create:

# After clean Windows 11 install
Checkpoint-VM -Name "ShopDB-Test-VM" -SnapshotName "Clean-Install"

# After Docker Desktop installed
Checkpoint-VM -Name "ShopDB-Test-VM" -SnapshotName "Docker-Ready"

# After SSH enabled
Checkpoint-VM -Name "ShopDB-Test-VM" -SnapshotName "SSH-Enabled"

Security Notes

Development Credentials (Local Only)

Database:

  • User: shopdb
  • Password: shopdb-dev-password
  • Host: 127.0.0.1:3306
  • Database: shopdb_flask
  • Scope: Localhost only, not exposed beyond local machine

VM SSH:

  • User: SupportUser
  • Password: vos313
  • Host: 192.168.100.10 (internal network only)
  • Scope: Test VM on isolated internal network, no internet access

Production Differences

  • Environment variables for credentials
  • Encrypted connections
  • Restricted database users
  • No MCP servers in production
  • No plain-text passwords

Integration with Claude Code

How MCP Servers Load

Automatic: When you run claude from the flask-shopdb directory, Claude Code:

  1. Looks for .claude/mcp-servers.json
  2. Starts each configured MCP server
  3. Makes their tools available to Claude
  4. You can use them through natural language

Manual: To use MCP in different directory:

  • Copy mcp-servers.json to that directory's .claude/ folder
  • Or run Claude Code from flask-shopdb directory

Permission Model

First use of each MCP tool:

  • Claude Code shows permission prompt
  • Review the operation (query, command, etc.)
  • Approve or deny

After approval:

  • Operation executes
  • Similar operations may also require approval
  • Dangerous operations always require approval

Configure auto-approval: Add to .claude/settings.json:

{
  "permissions": {
    "allow": [
      "mcp__mysql__query(SELECT *)",
      "mcp__vm__exec(hostname)"
    ]
  }
}

Troubleshooting Quick Reference

Issue Fix
MySQL not reachable docker compose up -d db
VM not reachable Start VM in Hyper-V Manager
SSH connection refused Run enable-vm-ssh.ps1 on VM
MCP servers not loading Restart Claude Code from flask-shopdb directory
Browser automation failed Close other Chrome instances
Gortex not found Run quick-start-mcp.ps1
